Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Oh My God(Hindi) Review

Do God exist? Is religion made by God? Can humans live without God and religion? Should they have to? All these questions are raised in this movie in a rather bold way at times and comical way at some times. But what messes up the movie is how far fetched and unfocused the plot gets to raise these questions. The dialogues of the movie are hard hitting but are not contextual. This is a movie neither for believers nor atheists. The movies stresses the point that God exists but not in the places you are looking for. What movie suggests is, love God not fear him. How many can lap up this idea is up to God. But overall a very bold movie that needed some good script work. Screenplay is alright with very few boring moments. Be warned there is whole lot of mockery made on religious heads, babas, mathajis, temples, business in name of Gods etc. It even questions the point why Sai baba who preferred staying poor all his life needs gold in his mandir. I don't think this movie can change anyone or make them feel guilty. My guess is many would ignore this movie. For rest watch it for some fun watch but there is no new point that is raised in this movie. The same questions that were raised earlier among drunkards in some dark corner of some bars or by some cool dudes trying to woo a hot girl or by some smart ones that believe in reasoning than blind faith are raised again in this movie.
