Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Uyare - Review(Netflix)

In Uyare, there is a scene where the father of the moronic self-entitled self-pitying Govind comes to Pallavi's(played by Parvathy) house. Pallavi just walks to him and sits in front of him without uttering a word. That one scene drives home a point which is very much need of the hour. "Raise your sons right or face the consequences."

Uyare is Parvathy's movie and the role of Pallavi is very close to what Parvathy is so used to playing, a strong, self-content individualistic woman, no matter her challenges. Asif Ali who played Govind's role is pretty good. He emotes well but in a very subtle way. He acts so well, that you do not foresee what his role is capable of. And that is also the point. All it takes is a lot of self-entitlement and a moment of rage for a guy to turn into something unexpected. Tovino's role is the sugar coating of the movie. It is far from reality but serves the purpose of the movie and helps it take some cinematic liberties for a happy ending.

The writing is spot on for the movie. The dialogues are so just. The direction is decent. The makers taking the route of flashback instead of straight narration helps the movie become an interesting watch than just a movie for a cause.

All in all, Uyare is a well made movie with a good cause at the heart and some cinematic liberties.
