Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Star Wars: The rise of Skywalker - No Spoiler Review

Star Wars: The rise of Skywalker is the best Star-wars movie for this generation. So go watch it. Now getting into the details, notice the two things in the first statement, “Star-wars movie” and “for this generation”. Let’s talk about them.

There is a whole generation that grew up watching and then cosplaying the 70s Star-wars. That was a classic of those times. The times have changed from then to now. This is a time of shorter attention spans and fitting in a Star-wars movie in that attention span is something this centuries’ Star-wars movies have failed at, except Rogue One(I will get back to that). Also this is a generation that has the least interest in watching anything other Marvel in theaters. Rise of Skywalker is aimed at breaking that barrier and with its own unique character. And in turn it evolves into a fitting finale, for now.

Coming to Rogue one, that is this generation’s best from the franchise. But it was more of a spin-off than a part of actual Skywalker-Solo-Palpatine saga. So Rise of Skywalker is indeed the best Star-wars movie for this generation. It is fast paced with just the right amount of drama and good twists and some disappointing revelations. Disappointing because it was an easy way out for the writing department. Rey’s character didn’t need any more dimensions to be added(watch the movie to understand this). And oh yeah the title, that was so right out of page one of cheating 101. But as they say the end justifies the means. Though the twists were too easy the deep philosophy conveyed through them justifies them well.

Again like I said earlier, Rise of Skywalker is the best Star-wars movie for this generation.
