Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Idris Elba is

Meeku Maatrame Cheptha - Review

There is a small section of audience that considers Ee nagaraaniki emaindhi a cult classic. And if you think Meeku Maatrame Cheptha is for the same section, then you are mistaken. MMC has larger appeal than ENE.

Movie has a very simple concept of a past video getting leaked and the actors attempts to fix it. It is a very wafer thin story line and very few characters but the writers wrote good entertaining lines to keep you engaged. This movie reminded me of the cult classic Nadavula Konjum Pakkatha Kaanum in terms of concept and execution.

Movie has some glaring problems like the first 10 minutes of the movie. It is a bad acting and bad writing galore. Even the main leads' intro scene is a let down. But once the movie shifts to cricket ground, it magically becomes a jolly fun ride. The second problem is the repetitive lines in the movie. The makers also made sure someone in the actors point out that the lines are repeating but still it induces a bit discomfort in an otherwise smooth narration.

Tharun is so cute in the role and any non-good actor would have ruined it. But fortunately he isn't a non-good actor and so he nails the role to perfection. Abhinav is outright hilarious with his inimitable style of punches and comedy lines. His totally out of sync lines in some scenes steal the scene in many parts. Vani Bhojan did alright in a decent role. Pavani has very limited screen space and she does well. Anasuya's cameo is good. Music goes so well with the proceedings that you hardly even make a note of it.

Overall, a fun watch and a funnier watch with friends.
