Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Idris Elba is

Super Deluxe - Review

The trailers of Super Deluxe can not even prepare you for what the movie has to offer. But the small story Sethupathy narrates in the trailer is exactly the summary of the movie. When your life is totally messed up, you tend to find solace in whatever tiniest thing possible offered to you.

Movie starts off on a very uneasy note for every character and from then on the movie takes on some unexpected twists and turns. The movie's tone is sarcasm, in other words, dark comedy. The cinematography and set pieces(art department) are purely world class. Every scene in the movie is like beautiful painting. Some sets look outlandish but it all makes sense by the end. Music is in tone with the movie and supports the movie well. The movie has so much subtext. But towards the end it seems so much simple for the roller coaster ride the characters went through. It's like the whole is lesser than the sum of its parts.

Sethupathy is a class act. He does the role of Silpa with so much dignity and he surely is the best thing of the movie. Samantha comes a close second. This is the finest performance from Samantha till date. Her role has so many variations and she does them just enough. Fahad is good is his supporting role. Rest of the cast including the police and the kids all do brilliant job. Ramya Krishna once again gets into the skin of a role and gives another stellar performance. Director Mysskin is decent. Performances wise everyone is perfect in the movie.

Super Deluxe's only problem is the pace. After certain point the story becomes stagnant and you just want to see it end. Even though some elite will appreciate the far-fetched enlightening ending, the movie takes forever before it reaches that point. All the brilliance in art work and cinematography, impeccable performances help the lethargic screenplay only a little in the second half.

Super Deluxe aims to be world class neo-noir thriller and it achieves it but for the common audience it is a decent one time watch for all the brilliance involved in the movie.
