Saaho - No Spoiler Review

Karna's story is the most depressing part of Mahabharata. He was destined to be a failure right from the moment he was born. They say his death has many reasons. Saaho reminded me of Karna. Saaho goes through all the pitfalls of what could go wrong. But it is not a total disaster though. It is strictly average.

Saaho is heavily inspired from a movie which is already remade in Telugu once and remade and dubbed into Telugu once. For obvious reasons, I can not mention those movie names. It is the result of unofficially remaking a movie for 5 years without exclusive rights. Also the intro fight is a concise version of Raid Redemption. Then Saaho suffers from continuity issues. Scenes jump from one frame to other in very inconsistent and confusing way. There are sequences where the plot points are not at all clearly conveyed. The songs look totally out of place. Not even a single song gets registered and so there are like four song breaks. The highly hyped action episodes are partly good and partly patchy. Finally Prabhas looks so dull and disinterested through out the movie. His face looks bad except the last two scenes in the movie. 

The good thing about the movie is how Sujeeth designed the movie and directed some elevation scenes. The last 20 mins of the movie totally feel like a different movie with good elevation scenes and Prabhas also looking stylish to the eyes in those scenes. Shradha did good. Murali Sharma got a meaty role and he does good. Neil is alright. Satya Dev's dubbing for him is a welcome change and an asset to his role. Chunky Pandey is good. Jackie Shroff's screen presence is still in tact and impressive. Arun Vijay is decent. Mandira Bedi is decent. BGM is perfect and major highlight. Cinematography is good mostly and rest is of inconsistent quality.

Overall, Saaho suffers from Karna syndrome. You want to like it but it is bound to be doomed.
