Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Manmadhudu 2 - Review

Manmadhudu is a classic today. The reason it is a classic is because of the variety characterization of a man hating women and of proceedings sprinkled with so many humorous scenes and punch dialogues from the pen of Trivikram. No one even came close to in form Trivikram's writings. So attempting Manmadhudu sequel that too by a one year old director is a bold attempt.

The director Rahul gave his best shot and it is clearly evident. The movie does not have a small canvas like Chi La Sow. In Manmadhudu 2 the frames are wide and grand. The art director and the cinematographer did a beautiful job. Every scene looks so beautiful and pleasing. All the actors did a very good job. The music is strictly okay. But the movie's basic plot line is very routine. There was no need to officially remake a french movie for this plot.

Rahul should be commended for taking the routine story and making it a laugh riot in first half. Second half has highs and lows. The dialogues are decent and emotions were alright but the Rahul we have seen in Chi La Sow is missing here. I loved how Rahul included a very subtle influence of 500 days of summer in one scene.

Nagarjuna, like in the last 20 movies, still looks so charming and dashing. For a change this movie makes his age as a conflict point and uses it to its advantage. Rakul once again shows her acting chops and proves her worth. Vennela Kishore is outright brilliant. He single handedly manages the comedy in the movie and that is a not an easy feat.

Overall, Manmadhudu 2 is no Manmadhudu but a good entertainer nevertheless.
