Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Idris Elba is...

Glass - Review

M. Night Shyamalan is a serious film maker. He does not play it to the galleries. He does not give into that temptation. The scene where Samuel Jackson reveals his name as Mr. Glass, there is neither arousing BGM nor reaction shots from other character in the scene. It is very plain yet effective in terms of the tone of the movie.

There is another scene where Glass says to a character "This is where they paint you with big eyes and bubbles of confusion over your head." That is some fine writing there. The movie is a perfect ode to comic books and the best one till date. But then again this is not trying to make you clap for the scene. This is like a poetry on comic books, very elite.

All the actors did good. James McAvoy's physical hard work mixed with his acting infuses life into his role. Samuel Jackson is Glass. He just lives the role to perfection. Bruce Willis is alright in a role that respects his age. Shyamalan paces this movie just right to set the mood of the movie and trust me that really helps you to ignore the tight budget he made this most ambitious movie of his career. This movie demands your attention and so truly it deserves all that attention you can give.

Come to think of it, the title of the movie is very well justified. I was wondering why he named it after Glass when the movie is a showdown between the Unbreakable and the beast that hunts for the unbroken. The movie answers that question.

Overall, Glass, like Unbreakable, is a thesis on comic book super heroes but not your typical super hero entertainer. This is, on a different level, good.
