Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Idris Elba is

Chitralahari - Movie Review

I always had one problem or lets just say a small inconvenience with Kishore Tirumala's movies. Be it Nenu Sailaja or Vunnadhi Okate Zindagi I felt there was something off in both. But I really loved some episodes in those movies. They had some classic lines in them. Add to that his movies have a clear perspective from different roles not just one lead role's perspective and most importantly his movies have characters, characterizations and a specific purpose for them in the movie. Kishore is a very fine writer but the end product always felt a little off.

I regret to say that Chitralahari also follows suit. But that is not the end of world for Chitralahari. There are some tall performances from Tej, Kalyani, Nivetha and most importantly Posani to lighten up the screens. Add to that Vennela Kishore gets few laughs in second half.

Music is just passable. Be it songs or bgm, DSP looked totally not in control and ends up giving us a mediocre score. Camerawork by Karthik is first class. The movie looks pleasant to the eyes. Acting wise, Tej toned down to the perfect levels and gave a balanced act. You will love Kalyani in her innocent and cute role with a very good characterization. Nivetha steals the show in the scenes she is in just like in Mental Madhilo. We have become used to Posani's peculiar kind of acting and it becomes passable more often than not. But when given roles like this one and the one in Temper he does not disappoint.

The main highlight of the movie are the episodes that are sprinkled all over the movie in an inconsistent screenplay. Nivetha's introduction scene, confrontation scenes between Kalyani and Tej in both the halves, Posani's retort to a neighbor, few father son scenes and few more add life to the movie.

So watch it for some brilliant writing in some brilliant scenes in a movie which has something off that I can not put a finger on.
