Marvel-verse movies have always been about fun, humor and total satisfaction guaranteed approach. They reached a new high with Thor-Ragnarok. For me personally, Ragnarok was the best movie in the whole franchise after the first Avengers. Infinity war comes only third. But this is all before I stepped into the theater of Endgame, knowing very well that everything is going to change forever.
And it did. Endgame is my third favorite movie in the franchise and I have my reasons. One, Endgame is very un-Marvel-ish. I mean to say that, over the years, Marvel movies have always been only entertaining but never having a saga feel. Endgame is a true saga in its truest sense. The timeline it covers, the number of characters, the amount of science used, the emotional ride and most importantly the way the last 15 minutes of the movie are used to let the movie sink in has epic saga written all over it.
That being said, that is what works against the movie a little bit. In Indian movies, where a 3 hour movie length is quite a common thing, the makers write the proceedings with multiple highs at regular intervals. Endgame has one huge high towards the end. Up until then the movie suffers from the inefficiency of the writers who aimed to write an epic but fell short by a little bit. The surprises in the movie does not give you the intended high or the needed high. Those proceedings(if you have seen the movie you know what I am talking about) look so superficial. So many surprises to rekindle your memory were created but I felt they did not get handled the way they deserved.
But when the epic battle starts, you just submit all your senses to the movie and secretly wish that your favorite super hero survives. The last 1 hour of the movie is outright the most brilliant thing the big screen has ever witnessed. It is not just the visuals of the 1 hour of the movie but it also the culmination of the memories of the MCU you have etched in your brains for the last decade. MCU did not achieve this in one movie. They have built it up until this movie and this movie seals the deal with a classic stamp on the series.
If you have invested the past decade of yours on Marvel heroes and rightfully so, you can not afford to miss this. But in case if you haven't worried much about Marvel, you can peacefully go back under the same rock and go back to sleep.
