Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Idris Elba is

Majili - Review

Majili is a story of a guy, his love failure and his marital life after. The trailer hit the right note with audience. I myself fell for what was shown in the trailer. Unfortunately what the trailer promises is never fulfilled on big screen. It is such a great loss because the story is too good to disappoint. A boy's love story mixed with cricket passion, its failure and in parallel another crush story. These are all the makings of a great movie. Alas, the movie falls short by miles and ends up as just an okay fare.

I can not tell you how much I loved the story, how much Gopi Sundar and Thaman tried to elevate it with perfect music and how much the cinematographer depicted the story beauty. But only if the writers had focussed more on the pain in the story, it would have been a gem of a movie. There are references to two Telugu songs in the movie in two different scenes. One is from the movie Maharshi and other from 7 G Brindavan Colony. Those two are the text books for depicting pain in a love story. The writers looked up to those movies but could not even achieve half as much as they did. I am telling you that I can not tell you how much I loved the story.

Moving on to the actors, Samantha gives just the right amount of performance in a loving wife role and takes away the cake. She is spot on. Her introduction itself gives you such a high. But later the role fizzles out but her performance stays rock solid. Coming to Chay, one needs to appreciate that he is pushing the envelope to go beyond his limitations. This role is way beyond his limitations. He looked good in both shades of the role but he could not perform as much as required. I can give him brownie points for attempting but I can not for his performance. I am not saying he is a bad actor but I am yet to see him flow freely like a breeze on the screen. He needs to shed his inhibitions in front of the camera. I have seen a spark in him in his very first movie Josh but he is not growing beyond that and the only thing stopping him is his body language. I do not want to be harsh but speaking the truth there is some awkwardness mixed with unease in his body language. That would be okay when playing the younger role but when he is playing the older role or when he is acting drunk he needs to be more fluid(for lack of better word). In short he needs to work on his camera shyness at least now, although it is late already. The new girl Divyansha looks like she might be here to stay with few hits in her account. She is pretty looking with decent acting for a first movie. Other supporting cast is apt in their roles.

Overall, the missing of pain in such a beautiful story is my main complaint and that's what makes this movie just okay watch. I wished for so much more.
