Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Idris Elba is...

The Intern

Nancy Meyers' movies are worth a watch just for their casting. Be it Jack Nicholson and Keanu Reeves in Something's gotta give or Kate Winslet, Cameroon Diaz, Jude Law and Jack Black in the Holiday or Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway in The Intern.

I still think The Holiday is her best yet. The intern only comes close owing to the warmth between the characters of De Niro and Anne. Their scenes together are a delight to watch. After watching numerous movies off late with De Niro playing foul-mouthed characters, it is a welcome change to see him in a rather nice and cute role. Like always, he is impeccable in acting, obviously we are talking De Niro here. Anne is very beautiful(inside) in this movie and a natural in acting. Movie's main drawback is it's wafer thin plot.

There is a dialogue in the movie between De Niro and Anne where she says "It was nice to have an adult conversation with an adult man, not about work, not about...you know what I mean" for which De Niro nods "Yes I know". That sums up this movie. It feels nice to see Anne Hathaway have warmth filled conversations with an adult man De Niro. Just plain honest conversations, nothing else. That somehow maintains a constant smile on your face through out.

Watch it for the unadulterated chemistry and warmth-filled(that's third time I used the word "warmth" and you should get what I mean by now) conversations between the lead pair.
