Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Idris Elba is...

Dear Zindagi

Dear Zindagi is a story of a girl who has hidden away her painful past and in doing so affecting her present. Comes in a therapist who helps her love her Zindagi. Plot is that simple and proceedings are even more simplified. The dialogues by the therapist are a hit or miss type. Shahrukh makes it all believable in a very subtle way. Alia just lives the role so effortlessly. The movie so much looks like a movie made for Alia to showcase her talent and she uses that fully. Shahrukh, Kunal Kapoor and Ali Zaffar(Yes another Pakistani actor) fill in the gaps, may be Shahrukh in a little bit longer cameo. The role is a cake walk for Shahrukh. It is refreshing to see Kunal Kapoor after a long time. Ali Zaffar was alright. Rest of the supporting cast also do good. Music is alright. Gauri's second outing after English Vinglish is almost of the same nature. Subtle, dealing with common problems and a very easy solution. The movie seemed to lack the emotional depth and more mature handling it needed in few scenes. But as a whole the movie never raises to our need to rush and watch it in theater. You might even love it more if you watched it at home on a leisure day. But if you can not resist a Shahrukh movie(like me) then yes you can bring yourself to the theater but be warned he is in a very small role in a movie tailor made for Alia. So I conclude by saying that Dear Zindagi is a decent watch if you bear with life like slow pace narration.
