Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Andala Rakshasi - Review

That was the time when Geethanjali just released and in a far far land somewhere in Tamil Nadu, people started talking every word shouting out loud and in Telugu language. Now don't ask me why people in Tamil Nadu would talk in Telugu. I only saw boards on shops in Tamil mainly in Tamil Nadu. So in that land, a guy who grew up watching Mouna Ragam by Mani Ratnam tries to be another Mohan for a girl who is a mix of Revathi from Mouna Ragam and Girija from Geethanjali and who also has a boy friend just like Karthik of Mouna Ragam. But what I don't understand is why everyone in the climax tries to be a Tamil hero of latest generation doing sacrifices at the drop of the hat. There are numerous scenes, concepts and even some dialogues lifted from Mani's movies. Both the heroes and heroine shout all the dialogues like Girija in Geethanjali which gets annoying. Surely movie is not completely bad. There are many instances of brilliance but somehow it adds up to only a mediocre product which is heavily inspired and borrowed from Mani Ratnam's classics Geethanjali and Mouna Ragam. But the saving grace of the movie is the heroine. She looks very innocent, sweet, simple, very middle class and very much from 90s. I am not even sure if she would look same good again ever. Director succeeded completely in that aspect. Music is alright except that some songs are intentionally made to sound like dubbed songs. Movie's cinematography also need to be mentioned.
