Vakeel Saab - Review
Very rarely movies with big stars meet the expectations, Vakeel Saab is an exception. It meets all of our expectations. When Pink remake was announced starring Pawan Kalyan, many of us reacted in our own ways. Some fans said this would be a treat to watch for fans and yes it meets that expectations. Some said Nivetha and Anjali will nail their roles and yes they meet the expectations. Some said this will be a kichidi of mass elements and the actual story will be diluted and yes Vakeel Saab meets those expectations too.
The entire first half of feels like an inconsistent mix of social cause and commerciality. Every scene of Pawan here feels like a speed bump. The flashback is a major let down. Pawan looks out of shape and so unnatural in those episodes. His styling, the great Pawan Kalyan, style ka baap, Pawan Kalyan's styling is plain bad.
Second half focuses mainly on the story and court scenes. The three girls gave brilliant performances. But Pawan and Prakash Raj in their attempt to cater to the masses, come across as caricaturish. Their confrontations are more on silly side than thought provoking. Pawan tries to instill all his honesty to the cause and saves some scenes. There are few scenes where he looks to be holding back himself from a complete breakdown. But some more focus should have been given to his dialogue delivery and body language to be more organic and natural.
My biggest complaint on this movie is that the main point of Pink being "No means No", is not stressed enough like in the original. And yeah the dialogues hinting at the Pawan Kalyan the Jana Sena president were so forcefully shoved into the narration.
Overall, you may watch Vakeel Saab for Pawan Kalyan. who is still not back in his elements but if you want to understand the actual cause behind the movie, Pink on Netflix is still a lot better option.
