Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Rajavaaru Ranigaaru - Review

Streaming: Amazon Prime
The trailer seemed fun but it did not reveal much about the movie. Of course it helped raise the curiosity. The movie is exactly like the trailer.

Rajavaaru Ranigaaru is a very very(mind the two Verys) simple love story. Boy likes a girl and does the girl like him back? That is the point of the movie, point of every scene, point of every dialogue, point of every character in the movie.

The entire first half depends on the two friends and they try their best with very very simple screenplay written. Music director, Editor and Cinematographer worked on first half like their life depended on it and it is clearly evident. Most of the time in the first half, before we even realize what is happening a beautifully crafted song comes, entertains and finishes off. It had very insufficient writing written all over it.

All the actors did good. But main credit goes to the two friends that try to bring life to the proceedings.

Second half with heroine's entry at least feels like cool breeze in dry summer. But that breeze is short lived too with proceedings taking the beating up until the climax. And yeah as I am a sucker for love stories, I felt nice in the climax but will not suggest it everyone.

Rajavaaru Ranigaaru is a well crafted short film that was expanded into a feature.
