Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Srinivasa Kalyanam - Review

Do you remember the last son of Prakash Raj in Shathamanam Bhavathi, the one who is always talking on phone about money? Everyone in Srinivasa Kalyanam is like him. I mean, not money minded, but so 80s types of characterizations. Srinivasa Kalyanam looks like as if the makers made the guy, who wrote that last son's character in that movie, write this whole movie.

Throughout the boring and cliched proceedings, you keep consoling yourself that it is a Dil Raju movie and the climax would make up for everything. Then the climax comes and its like the background score wants you to cry but the writing makes you laugh and the acting doesn't help either.

And what's with the cheap looking 80s styled shots in the first half. The movie seriously needed some budget and good art director in first half of the movie. The main roles are by Jayasudha, Rajendra Prasad, Prakash Raj, Nitin and Rashi. Rest of the cast have one or two line dialogues. Nitin needs to improve either his story selecting skills or acting skills. Rashi tries her best to infuse life into her role but her make up, poorly written dialogues and unnecessary usage of glycerin only make things worse for her. Prakash Raj and Jayasudha are cast in two extremes roles both illogical, cliched and so 80s. Rajendra Prasad has dialogues but no role, if you can understand what I mean.

Overall, after a strictly average, over-exaggerated Seethamma Vaakitlo and cliche-fest Shathamanam Bhavathi, Srinivasa Kalyanam, a lazy attempt of a family movie, was inevitable. There should be a word "Anubhavinchandi" somewhere in the previous sentence.
