Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Ready Player One - Review

Okay, whoever cut the trailer for the movie did a very bad job. What trailer shows and what movie actually offers is quite distant.

Steven Spielberg did this before too. Establish a fictional world, make audience understand the world and then give us an interesting story in that world. Few examples are Jurassic Park, Minority Report, Indiana Jones etc. The same happens in Ready Player One. It is set in a post-apocalyptic world where people prefer to live in a virtual world called Oasis. Firstly the minute detailing done for the setup easily pulls you into the believablty of this made up world without questioning. Then the story unravels.

Ready Player One is a story of a bunch of gamers that try to find three hidden eggs in a game to inherit a fortune and a legacy. As with every story there are two kinds of people here. One that are good and one that are evil. As with many stories, finally good triumphs over evil. I know what you must be thinking. "Such a boring beaten to death script." That's where the genius Spielberg comes in handy. His exceptional writing skills along with his love towards pop culture and nostalgia make this movie a delight to watch.

If you can see the pictures in this review and can identify the references then you should watch this movie for the sheer childlike excitement it will give you.
