While the end titles were rolling, my only thought was "I wish Arjun takes good care of Anjali throughout her life and even in death." That's the impact this movie had on me. It was so real. The movie deals with two important points. One, bipolar disorder and two, daughter who lost a parent very young and so had to grow up right away. Don't skip the review yet. Those two points are very important and are dealt in a very sensible way in the movie.
Chi La Sow is a beautiful love story which has multiple layers woven into it so seamlessly. Firstly Rohini garu, take a bow. Please give her an award. She is impeccable in her role. Secondly Ruhani Sharma. Give her eyes an award please. She is a very unconventional heroine and that is her main asset. She emotes very well in a well written role for an actress in a long long time. Movie revolves around her and it definitely needed an able actress. Ruhani fit that bill to the tee. Dubbing by Chinmayi is a major plus too. Sushanth is alright. He looked adorable in the role of a nice sensible boy.
Coming to the director Rahul, please give him an award too. He made a very sensible movie for his debut as director and I am sure his sensibilities as a person reflected on screen so beautifully for the script he wrote. Comedy which was used as a filler works partly but the remaining parts are spot on. The scene of Ruhani waiting on the stairs, Ruhani's conversation with her Bamma, Ruhani's mama's conversation with Sushanth, Rohini's scenes are all so praise-worthy. Who ever designed the costume Ruhani wore for the whole movie, give them an award too. It definitely added to her character. She looked so adorable, so strong and also so sensitive in that.
Very rarely do we see a female lead role that has a strong character in the movie. This movie takes it few notches high and even justifies her character with a well-written childhood and present. The way Ruhani's role, her thinking, her fears and her mental strength are justified by her life story is applaud-worthy. Chi La Sow is a beautiful movie I want people to watch to get in touch with their sensible side.
