Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Idris Elba is...

Jai Simha - Review

Someone called Balayya and told that audience are missing out his vintage movies of revenge and three heroines. The result is unfortunately Jai Simha. This is your garden variety Telugu revenge violence drama. It has bullets flying around, knives slitting throats, vehicles flying in the air, people getting killed, pregnant woman tossed around in cars and kids being shot at. Then there is Balayya intermittently giving long speeches that somehow worked in movies like Simha and Legend but here sound very superficial. The villains are the most confused lot. When they want to take revenge on Balayya they do not attack him but kill his friends or kidnap Nayanatara who is someone else's wife. I am still confused if Kalakeya Prabhakar should have tried to kill Balayya or Nayan's husband to seek revenge. Oops I am sorry I spilled out spoilers in case you were still planning to watch this movie. Oh there is still one more super twist related to the kid, I am not going to spill out. KS Ravikumar seemed to be totally out of sync with audience taste. Only thing that is so trendy in the movie is a heroin snorting heroine, a daughter of Dharmakartha in a village.

Balayya is his usual self. Nayan tried to do justice to the role that was not written for her. There is a scene where she lifts the kid with an injury to her shoulder. She adjusts her body language to depict that she is in pain. That seriousness and dedication was totally missing from the writing team. Natasha and Hari Priya are used as mere fillers for narration. Brahmi role looked straight out of Chandramukhi where he dubbed for Vadivelu in same role.

On a whole this is vintage Balayya movie that released a decade late.
