Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Krishna, the Agnyaathavaasi

When Kamsa realized that Vasudeva's heir will kill him and take the throne away from him, he had him jailed along with his wife and killed all his kids except one who was sent away with nobody's knowledge. Krishna grew up to be Yashoda Krishna, the favorite of Yashodha more than Balarama. And when the time was right Krishna along with Balarama returns as the heir. In short, Krishna stayed in Agnyaathavaasam until then.

It is a common knowledge that Krishna's favorite wives are Satyabhama and Rukmini. Satyabhama is known for her possessiveness and Rukmini for her eternal beauty. But they both always wanted Krishna for themselves and hence the adage Naari naari naduma Murari.

Towards the end of Kurukshetra war, Krishna uses his tactics to bring out Duryodhana from the hiding inside the pond. Also during Kurukshetra Ashwathama was cursed by Krishna to stay alone forever far away from any human contact because of the brutal killings he did for Kouravas.

Now substitute Pawan Kalyan for Krishna the Agnyaathavaasi, Keerthy Suresh for Rukmini, the eternal beauty Sukumari, Anu Emmanuel for Satyabhama, the possessive Suryakaantham, Jayaprakash for Duryodhana in hiding, Aadi for Ashwathama cursed to stay away from humanity on twin islands and Tanikella Bharani for Balarama, the accomplice and finally Kushboo for Indrani, the Yashodha in Yashodha Krishna. Add to this, the Swagatham Krishna song sung by Rukmini alias Keerthy Suresh for when Krishna alias Pawan Kalyan comes to meet her and the line "Naari naari naduma Murari" reference in AB Baby song.

Yes Agnyaathavaasi could have very well been Largo Winch ripoff but there are plenty of Lord Krishna parallels in the movie although very abstract and half-baked. If only they were concrete and well-executed it could have been a real treat for Trivikram fans.
