Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Wonder Woman - Review

DC Comics have two worlds in them. One that is Nolan-ish which is dark and intense while the other one is Snyder-ish which is quirky, crazy, loud and fun in a weird way. Wonder Woman tries to add a third world to it and I cannot categorize it yet. It is all over the place. It tries to chew on too much for a first bite and the result is that audience are choking up sitting through the lethargic proceedings. I know this movie is the highest rated DC Comics movie in the recent times and a first of a kind Woman-centric super hero movie. Gal Gadot is kickass in her role. But for me when I sit down to watch a movie, it has to be interesting beyond all the history making trivia associated with the movie. Wonder Woman is no where close to being wonderful. I still prefer her introduction shot in Dawn of Justice when she saves Superman and Batman. But why do we watch all these super heroes movies? It is because we do not want to be scratching our heads when the movie with all of them releases like Justice League in this case. That is the only reason I can think of why anyone should watch this movie and Justice League better be worth all this.
