Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Cloud Atlas - Review

Just how much abstract can Hollywood film makers get. Donnie Darko, 2001: A space odyssey , Matrix and now this, Cloud Atlas. At least the earlier movies, though abstract  had some meat in them to initiate lot of interpretations from the audience. Cloud Atlas is the most elaborate abstract movie ever made. It had way too many details included in the movie but all put together or few put together, it does not actually solidly convey anything clearly. Of course that is the nature of most abstract movies. But the problem is, this movie acts as if it is trying to preach you something but you hardly ever comprehend it, except that Karma will eventually catch up. I am not sure how confusing the book was but the movie, in my opinion, is few notches up because of the same actors playing the different roles in different eras.  Six eras and some 6 to 7 actors repeating in different roles with some weird different make ups, each dealing with some kind of problem and some how remotely connected or guided by some person from their previous life. This is how I can sum it up. It has a certain mystic feel to it along with Wachowskis' grandeur, that makes the movie watchable even if it is 3 hours in length. But when it concludes, all you feel is that makers fell way short of conveying what they started out to. The movie is dangling between Elaborate and Abstract natures just like life, way of God and most importantly Karma.
