Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Enola Holmes - Review

 Streaming: Netflix

Sherlock Holmes movies were always there but they became a huge fad after Guy Ritchie redefined the story with his inimitable style in 2009. Since then the whole mystery suspense genre is being reimagined.

Enola Holmes comes at a time after the franchise has been almost immortalized by RDJ and Benedict Cumberbatch. H.E.(Enola Homes initails in reverse) starts off on a familiar mood like the RDJ's and Ben's Sherlocks. Then the movie goes back to the good old school of making British mystery dramas. I personally was not thrilled by the proceedings in the last 90 minutes in this 120 minutes movie.

The cockiness expected from Holmes family is all there. That is the saving grace of this slow old school drama. Milly Bobby Brown is perfect fit the role and she becomes Enola very efficiently. She is able to stand next to Sherlock Holmes and even taller. Thanks to Henry Cavill's I am Henry Cavill kind of approach to this role. Thank fully the movie does not belong to Sherlock. So we are spared more disappointment. Helena Bonham Carter as always is a delight to watch, even though in this, in a minor role.

The production values, the cinematography, the sets, the music and old London are highlights of the movie. The old London in the movies never gets old.

Overall, watch Enola Holmes for Milly and London and hope that this is just the origins story of Enola and we get to see brilliant stuff from her than this just okay movie.
