Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Wonder - Review

First things first, this is a must watch PG movie for everyone.

Wonder is a movie about a small kid, with facial deformity, who is ready to face the world while starting the middle school. It also touches the lives of his family and people around him, cleverly weaving their own struggles into the script.

The movie does not give into the temptation of making this a realistic one. Instead it tries to become an escapist emotional drama with just enough sugar coating to enjoy the movie. For the subject it took it does not try to get into the depressing tones. In a way it’s a good thing and hence it’s enjoyable.

Coming to the actors, Julia Roberts obviously leads the movie. The movie is so subtly written without pushing the boundaries of emotions to the extent of making this a sob story. Instead it comes across as a very heart warming story that retains a smile on your face throughout. That's where Julia Roberts comes in and uses her experience and talent to tug at your heartstrings on command. She is so brilliant and one of the main reasons this is a must watch. Owen Wilson is a revelation in a very warm role. He does it the way only he can do and that works so well for the movie. Rest of the actors are okay. The movie is filled with so many kids roles and that helps the narration.

Overall, like I said before, this is a must watch heartwarming story that can be watched my complete family, especially for this holiday season.
