Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Idris Elba is

Uri - Movie Review

Lets put aside the unimportant things first. Yes there are some credit taking scenes, some propaganda based scenes etc but someone had the right sense to not overdo it. That saved this movie.

Uri basically is a movie based on a military operation in recent times. So for diplomatic and security reasons, not all the exact details were shown. Some scenes were over-simplified and some cinematic liberties were taken to make it a thoroughly enjoyable movie.

Uri sticks to the plot and without many deviations conveys what it set out to convey. We all know the events that led to Uri but putting them all together in a movie itself makes for a good watch for any Indian to understand what our Army went through. But movie never rises above its basic plot of how the events unfolded, except for the scene I am going to mention two paragraphs later. Uri could have been a lot more but it remains just a decent watch.

Acting wise, this is not a movie for actors to shine. It is of a thriller kind. But even then Vicky Kaushal shines in a role that many actors would have over done. He doesn't go even a bit over board in any of the scenes, not even an extra blink of an eye. That is a tough benchmark he set for any actors going to play such roles.

The best scene of the movie is the scene where daughter of a soldier shouts the war cry. If not for anything watch the movie for that one scene. Knowing that it happened and then witnessing it this movie with the right backstory to it, it just feels so right and makes you very emotional.

Action episodes are top notch, one of the finest from Bollywood. The production values are high.

In conclusion, Uri is a decent army thriller that becomes a must watch owing to it being a real story with real emotion backing it.
