Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Zero - Movie Review

If I had cut the trailer for Zero movie, the narration would have gone like "He had the stars on his fingertips. He thought it was just film stars. But his reach was beyond the skies, to the real stars and this is the story of how he touched them, the real stars." And this is no spoiler. This is how the movie should have been marketed.

Zero is an unusual, unbelievable and uncompromising story of an underdog but this underdog is a little over-achiever with a hint of luck on his side and a bit of a crook too. Shahrukh plays this role with an uncanny ease that comes from the confidence that he knew that he could not go wrong. And his calculation is right. He is impeccable in the role and the CGI helps too. CGI for his role has few rough edges in some scenes but overall, it never comes in the way of the story-telling.

Anushka did good in her role while Katrina got herself a role of her life and she lives it. Everything and everything is spot on in the movie except the length. The movie's pace dips in the second half but none of the scenes can be termed as unimportant. Every scene has its own place in the movie but for some reason you wish the movie comes to the end titles soon.

Shahrukh in Mere  Naam Tu, proves why he can sweep anyone off their feet in which ever form he is. That song is a major highlight and gives you such a high and totally justifies Anushka falling for him. No not just the grandiose but also the earnestness he shows in his eyes while wooing her.

Overall, Zero is a fun-filled, emotional and triumphant out of the world(literally) cinematic experience and a "You have to see it to believe it" kind of story.
