Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Idris Elba is

Aravinda Sameta Veera Raghava - Review

There is a scene in the movie Siva where Amala is kidnapped and Nag without a fight rescues her. Same way Tarak also does that in this movie when Pooja is kidnapped. That scene in ASVR is very good. The first fight of Prabhas in Chatrapati when a small kid is killed is goosebumps inducing. The same way, the first fight in ASVR is almost on that level. There is an emotional scene in the movie Leader when the old man refuses help of Rana. In ASVR Hari Teja comes in a brief role and makes almost similar impact. But Siva, Chatrapathi and Leader had so much other story woven around it beautifully to carry the emotion created by above scenes through out.

Watch Animated Review here:

ASVR minus those above brilliant scenes is just an average movie on the lines of NTR's Samba and Dhammu. The movie looks stagnant most of the times and then a beautiful emotional scene comes or a good hero elevation scene comes and then the movie becomes stagnant again. Right from Attarintiki Daaredi this has been the case with Trivikram's movies, but people started noticing only recently. Guruji has to do something about it, if not for anyone, at least for people like me who call him guruji. ASVR toggles between women empowerment and peace in war threads and that is also a drawback to the movie as it does not do full justice to both. The faction concept itself looks so obsolete now and that does not help the movie either.

Coming to NTR, watching ASVR is like watching a ticking time bomb that never goes off. He showed immense talent and conviction in the scenes that if written efficiently could have used his potential more but it feels like he is very underutilized. That too post Temper, Nannaku Prematho, Janatha Garage and Jai Lava Kusa people have witnessed what he is capable of in terms of acting. Pooja gets her career's best role in this and she does very good but due to the routine Trivikram styled scenes she does not leave much impact. Sunil is okay in a Athadu-ish role. Jagapathi Babu somehow did not fit the role. Naveen Chandra is good. Supriya Pathak was not needed for that role.

Background score by Thaman is a major highlight for the movie. He helped movie to get to the next level. The fights are brilliant.

Overall, Aravinda Sameta is Trivikram's attempt at mass violent movie with multiple messages but alas  he could not drive home at least one message.
