Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations. Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Idris Elba is
Post Bommarillu Telugu rom coms have changed or I should say started sticking to a template. That template, if rightly used, can yield beautiful results. One of those rare rightly used times is Hello Guru Prema Kosame.
HGPK is a simple movie with a very entertaining package. What was the last movie where we sat down in a theater, had a good laugh, got emotional a bit and came out thinking "Hmm, that was a good movie." For this movie, you will for sure.
Ram has an ease in his acting and confidence to carry any role. That was missing in Vunnadhi Okate Zindagi. In HGPK, he is back in form, totally in control of the proceedings. By in form I do not mean the Kandireega form, thats the hyper Ram(of course we love that too). In HGPK we get a very confident and a matured performance from Ram. Ram's dances when choreographed well are a treat to watch. But please stop doing the lengthy dance steps. This has to stop now. Not just Ram, but NTR, Ram Charan and every one needs to stop doing lengthy steps of moving left to right or right to left on screen. They are not good. Someone please convey this to the choreographers.
The movie revolves around Anupama but she does not have a full length role like Ram. But she is gradually becoming that epitome of Telugu cinema's girl next door heroine. Only the makers need to learn to use her more. She has a persona that can carry the whole movie. But yeah please avoid those typical mass dance numbers like the Hello guru prema kosame title song. She is not made for such songs. The makers have tried putting the likes of Genelia in such songs and now Anupama.
Animated Review here:
Next major role of the movie is Prakash Raj. Prakash Raj returns to his usual Telugu cinema father role and this time with a twist. He plays a funny friend to Ram along with being a good dad to Anupama. This whole thread of Ram-Prakash Raj could have become a laughing stock if not for the conviction they had. Pranitha is cute in her extended cameo. Praveen and Aamani shine in some comedy scenes. Watch out for the hilarious episode in first half.
I do not see any drawbacks for the movie but if I have to pick one, it has to be the music. This is not bad music but this is not good either. It is just there. The songs are passable and the background score is very routine DSP template background score. When a love story does not get an elevation music, it feels like the soul of the movie is missing. That's what happens with HGPK.
Overall, a clean movie with a good packaging of humor and emotions.
Picture is somewhat good only but Ram acting is common in all pictures . Whole picture is on Ram and Prakash RAJ
