Tell me one Telugu hero whom everyone likes or no one hates. Tell me the current most bankable hero. Tell me one hero whose movie you would watch now irrespective of the reviews. If any of your answers in Nani, ignore this review and get your MCA tickets soon before they sold out because most of the Telugu people will answer Nani for the above questions.
Nani plays an unemployed irresponsible who falls for a girl but her dad has a problem with him. I know that is Nenu Local movie. So take that plot and add an Anna - Vadina to the script and a clash with the villain for Vadina. That is MCA. In a way, MCA is Nenu Local part two and could have been named as Nenu Non-Local.
It is not an exaggeration that Nani is seeing a following that has not been witnessed in recent past. There is unprecedented goodwill he earned from the audience. And when he makes movies like MCA, it is like he is testing his audience. This is not a Nani movie. This is a typical Telugu formula movie but the good news is that Nani owned up to the role and makes it watchable. Then comes the role of Sai Pallavi. Her second movie in Telugu and you make her the run of the mill heroine who comes 5 minutes before the song. Her role is so half baked and it is a gross injustice to her. She should stay away from such movies for her own good. Bhoomika has a decent role and she does good. Rest of the cast just walk through the roles like they did innumerable times before MCA. No song stays with you once you leave the theater, not even Evandoi Nani Gaaru.
The title MCA had lot of potential that the makers could not cash on. Since they were not anyways writing a Oscar library worthy screenplay. They could have easily lifted few scenes from Dhanush's VIP to cash in on MCA sentiment. Instead the climax twist and last 10 minutes almost borders on a joke but nobody will laugh at it, since it is a Nani movie.
Overall, I would just like to say "Nani, please do not do such movies. But this one time audience may cut you some slack and give you a hit. Do not further test the goodwill you have earned by working REALLY hard."
