Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Idris Elba is...

DJ (Telugu) - Review

Foreword: I am a Pawan Kalyan fan but that has nothing to do with this review. But if you wish you can judge me and ignore the review.

A director will always have his pluses and minuses. His talent lies in hiding the minuses efficiently and showcasing his pluses to the maximum. Some movies are an extraordinary showcase of the pluses while some unfortunately will be the minuses galore. For Harish Shankar, Gabbar Singh was the former while DJ is latter.

Coming to the actors, to say the least, Allu Arjun should not have picked up this role. Forget the comparison with NTR's Adhurs, Allu Arjun's version looks so forced. It just did not click. The role gets even worse towards the end with the designer role. I have always thought of Bunny as a cautious actor but this role and script made me wonder what went wrong.

Pooja Hegde is limited to a glamorous role and she totally hits it out of the park. From blurred visuals of her to the double entendres to the super stylish dressing, her role was designed for a purpose and it serves it. Rao Ramesh with his track record of hits and misses, misses it this time. Subbaraju's role starts off funny but ends being a joke on the movie and it's audience itself. Rest of the cast are alright.

The story offers nothing new. The scenes too, the same. The movie very liberally borrows scenes from Arjun's Gentlemen, Rajnikanth Basha, NTR Adhurs and dialogues from so many other movies. There are, may be, just two very short scenes in the movie that impress you and that's about it. There are good dialogues but with no right emotion backing them they just fall flat. Songs are a major let down except Seetimaar and Gudilo Badilo but the latter's CGI work was so patchy.

Overall, a wrong choice of the role and the story for Allu Arjun and for Harish Shankar his minuses marred the movie totally.
