Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Idris Elba is

Gautami Putra Satakarni Review

Krish has reached new heights post Kanche. Kanche was a bigger canvas movie well planned and executed within a short time but came out with top notch quality. Gautami Putra Satakarni, a period film, is much bigger than Kanche. The vision, the execution, the planning and the result completely need appreciation for the entire team.

Be it period movies or mythological movies, in Telugu cinema, Balakrishna is the first one that comes to our mind. So he was the obvious choice and Satakarni for his 100th movie is a perfect choice chosen by him too. His looks, physique and wig are a bit off in few scenes but this movie is beyond all that. He did pretty good. Shriya in the role of Vasishti devi looked glamorous in songs but its her acting in key scenes that is very commendable. Hema Malini was perfect choice for the role. Though short in length, it was a key role.

The movie's runtime consists mainly of the war episodes which were picturized very well, in the limits of its budget and the time taken. The hardwork is pretty evident. Sai Madhav's dialogue are not straight forward punch dialogues but the ones that demand some focus to understand them. He did a pretty good job like all his movies with Krish. Music is alright and suits the situations. Saaho saarvabhouma song comes during the peak emotional scenes and lyrics by Sastry garu are goosebumps inducing. There are couple of powerful dialogues on Telugu people and Indians which make you proud. But movie lacked intense drama and some more powerful dialogues at regular intervals. A good inspirational speech before one of the wars would have elevated the movie more.

Gautami Putra Satakarni is Krish's attempt at making Telugu people proud and give us a classic movie. But the attempt is only partially successful. The movie only reaches may be 75% to 80% of what it attempted but nevertheless it is an appreciable movie and another feather in the cap of Krish and his entire team.
