Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Idris Elba is

The Hateful Eight

For majority of the movie lovers out there, I do not think a review is needed for this movie because it is The Tarantino movie but for the rest read on.

At the very outset of the movie or shall I say when all eight come together, you will know how it is all going to end. We all have seen enough of Tarantino's movies already. But when was the last time you watched a Tarantino movie for an interesting story. It was always about the proceedings, in other words conversations. Tarantino is unbelievably awesome in that aspect in this movie. For a movie that's almost 3 hours in length, it feels surprisingly interesting with just the conversations and a lot of them. I watched it on a bright sunny day when the temperatures were about 90 F but once the movie was done, I felt as if I was in the middle of a blizzard. That is hands down brilliant story telling that too by showing only a few glimpses of the snow. The other aspect I loved about the movie is the effective usage of 70MM lens. The movie looks totally like a western classic and one of the better ones. The only complaint I have about the movie is that Michael Madsen is wasted. I don't mind cameos but he was one of the eight but you hardly feel his presence in the movie.

Set three hours of your any day aside and watch this movie to get carried into the world of Hateful eight.
