Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Idris Elba is

Now you see me 2

Let's start with the basic question. Even though everyone knows at some level that real magic is a myth, why then people pay to watch magic shows? It's not for the magic or even to crack the tricks. Over the centuries the magicians or as we call them now Illusionists, have always used splendid theatrics to divert audience from their tricks. The more grand your theatrics, the less audience worry about how it was done. And that's what "Now you see me" is all about, Theatrics which are very well supported by heart pounding adrenaline pumping music. All they had to do then was to write a decent script to include those theatrics. You get this concept and you will love this series. If you loved the first one, then it is because of that. And it is again because of that you will love the part two as well.

Yes there are some loopholes in the plot and very obvious twists but then again I did not pick this movie to look for logical balancing of all the equations. The moment Jesse Eisenberg does his trick in London, you conclude that you have been quenched of what you were thirsting for from this movie. Everything else, the decent script, the richness in making, the locations, the humor, the Daniel Radcliffe(in a badly written role though) are all a bonus. If you agree with any of the points at the beginning of this review, then I would say you are wasting your time reading this review. Instead pick up this movie and watch, I mean, right now......or at least once you reach home.
