Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Hasee Toh Phasee - Review

There are times when the pre-release publicity material acts against a movie and Hasee toh phasee is one such sad time. The songs Punjabi wedding song, Drama queen and also the above poster are in no way conveying the mood of the film. From those songs and posters one would expect this to be just another rom-com from Karan Johar. But to say the least it is not. But Zehnaseeb is the mood of the film. It is a pleasant romantic comedy film with right emotions in right places. I know it sounds very clichéd to say but this movie makes you laugh, cry and root for the lead couple especially for Sidharth. Sidharth is very likable in this movie and does justice to his role. Parineeti is ok but over does her character some times to confusing levels. And for a change this romcom might also be liked by families. So one can say this is a romcom family entertainer. But if I have to mention any drawbacks, then it would be the title of movie, which is a catchy phrase but is not relevant to the content. And what's with the Indian cinema and the marriage in climax. Why does all these movies be dragged till the wedding date? It looks very old fashioned now. Finally, it is a decent and a little bit unusual romantic movie that still has it's heart and soul in place and that does not traverse the path of Gen-X silly love stories.
