Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Idris Elba is

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag

The movie ends pretty good and it starts off also pretty well. But it becomes stagnant in the middle for a while, with few emotional highs here and there. There is so much to love about the story. Milkha Singh is not your usual under dog type. He is very stubborn, very illogical and with a very sad past. Milkha singh lost his chance to win gold medal for India in Olympics because, as the then media said, he turned back to look at the runners who were behind him. In this movie that blame is completely put on Jawaharlal Nehru. He then goes on to become "The flying Sikh", the name given to him by a Pakistan general. Farhan Akthar has transformed himself for the role very well. He shed his urban body language almost completely. Farhan put in so much effort that no Indian actor, as far I can recollect, had put in ever for a film. Every other actor just falls in place for their respective roles. The scenes towards the end in Pakistan while he is visiting his old house are shot just brilliant. They capture the emotional conflict brilliantly. Rakeysh Om Prakash is a very sensible film maker but he needs to focus a little bit more on the lines of tighter screenplays. On a whole, it is an honest heart warming story with not much adrenaline rush seen in most sports based movies and feels a bit too slow in the middle.
