Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Idris Elba is

Aurangzeb - Review

So many film makers all around the world got inspired by the already inspired Departed. Some say it is the script that is mind blowing and so they mind-numbingly copied it. Same with The Godfather. What many miss to realize is that it is the intensity of setup in those movies, that makes them addictive and not many could get that right. Aurangzeb tries that and succeeds to an extent. Yes it is inspired by half a dozen movies or more but surprisingly it looks very fresh. The director, a first timer from RGV camp, does a commendable job in direction. He was successful in capturing the right mood for the movie. The dialogues of the movie are a big plus. They are intelligent for a change rather than being punch lines. Story is a very complicated one that needed better handling of the ending. The ending looks very rushed and less thought through. Also the justification to the movie title is given in a very abstract way towards the end. Towards the end you feel as if suddenly you switched a channel and watching an altogether different movie. Acting wise, Rishi Kapoor is brilliant followed by Prithvi Raj who got a very good role and did full justice to that. I felt that both the Arjun Kapoor's were used merely as props in the movie without much character graph. But Arjun did excel in few scenes. His careless attitude as Ajay is more natural and unpredicatble than the subtle Vishal. Amrita Singh and Jackie Shroff did just fine. Overall, a good movie with a not so good culmination.
