Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Balupu review

Balupu is a story of a guy with a flashback who comes to city and works as a recovery agent. No sorry that is King. Let me try again. Balupu is a story of a guy who quits a gang and comes away to live peacefully. Again no, that is Balu. Balupu is a story of a guy who quits all the violent stuff after his love interest is killed. No again, sorry that is Narasimha Naidu. Balupu is the story of a violent guy who loves a doctor and poses as a soft natured good hearted guy. Damn, that is Shankar Dada MBBS. Ok at least I can say Balupu is a movie where Brahmi dances hilariously. Oops sorry again, that is Money or latest Naayak. Ok ok, Balupu is all of these and not better than any of these. Balupu succeeds heavily in bringing down the benchmark for the commercial cinema which was already low after the successes of Naayak, Mirchi etc this year. With very few laughs here and there you cannot call this an entertaining cinema. And also as is the trend, the clippings of Pawan Kalyan and references to him are also used in good amounts. The only fresh thing about the movie is Shruthi in bubbly role which I felt she did good justice to. And again that thread is a ripoff from Namo Venkatesa. Balupu is no Mirapakai but just another Mirchi. If you liked Mirchi, Mass Maharaja can make you like this a bit more.
