Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu

One of the most prestigious movies of Telugu cinema and the makers chose to play it safe. But may be it became too much careful. The main heart of the movie lies in its preaching of a bit too impractical good Samaritan ways. In order not to over do it, they chose to underplay the sentiment and emotions. So what you see in the movie are very subtle emotions, subtle drama and very subtle villains. What works for the film, if at all any, are the interactions between Venki and Mahesh and Mahesh's characterization. Songs are just ok. Dialogues, disappointingly, are also just ok. Even in the climax, Prakash Raj's preaching is easily dominated by the dialogues between Venki and Mahesh that follows. Venki looked very old though makers tried to cover up. Mahesh screen presence and dialogue delivery in both comedy and sentiment scenes are a huge asset for the film but there are not many other assets to this film. There is not much you take home from this movie because of the impractical preaching and the slow narration. But Dil Raju can definitely make it work for family audiences. A product that should have been a classic ended up as a mediocre product but I can completely understand that the hype around this is too tough to resist to not watch this movie. So you decide.
