Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Idris Elba is...

Lovely(Telugu)

For beginners, director of this movie B.Jaya is someone who introduced a Telugu heroine named Suhasini through a movie called Chantigadu with Bala Aditya and also did some other movies like Premikulu, Premalo Pavani Kalyan etc. Now this movie, Lovely, was her ticket to mainstream cinema and she succeeded.

Aadhi son of Sai Kumar in his second movie, after working with Vijayabhaskar in a forgetful movie, chose to work with B.Jaya. Very big gamble I should say but a good one. It is also his ticket to stardom(that little stardom which sons of non-superstars are allowed to achieve). It's good to see Aadi succeed as hero after two generations in his family struggled to become hero in Telugu cinema. His voice though is not completely matured, it sure seems to have the power of his dad and grand dad. His acting and dances are pretty fine except for some polishing of the rough edges. Sai Kumar seems lucky when compared to Chiru and Nag :P

Coming to heroine she suited the role well. Rajendra prasad was wasted like so many other movies he has been acting in recently except Julaayi. Songs were a big plus. And fights made me check if the movie was made by female director or not. I am not trying to be judgmental  or chauvinistic but I was genuinely  surprised.

Though director tried to mess up the climax, it happens too soon to get ignored. But I would have to say the first half is ripoff of Mujhe Fraandship Karoge. But what is not ripped off is also handled and thought through well. Overall a very good complete family entertainer. Yes it is, for a change, a complete family entertainer.
