Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Idris Elba is

One Day - movie review

Meeting one day every year is a concept straight out of "Same time next year" while that is intentional in the original, it is depicted as unplanned in One day. No the couple are not "Friends with benefits" and their relation is also not  a "No strings attached" relation. They get intimate, they fight, they feel possessive, they cry together etc but they just don't know if they should get together or not. While the Dexter is busy getting laid with every woman he meets and then later attending their weddings, Emma just passes her life waiting tables, teaching kids etc just because she lacks confidence. When the role switching happens wherein Dexter becomes divorced, unsuccessful in his career and Emma becomes a famous writer they decide to get married. I know, poor Dexter always needs "a shoulder to sleep with" as Emma says. But the beautiful part of the movie starts only after the marriage which is last 10 mins. That too with a Hollywood meets Tamil cinema twist. Seriously movie could have been easily written off if not for that twist. As an audience one goes through a lot of hardships along with Emma and Dexter so after the twist you start feeling sorry for them and may be a little bit for yourself too. And then the dialogue by Emma's ex "July 15 th was always around the corner" ...how desperate can makers get.

Overall, avoid it unless you are desperate for failure love stories no matter how pathetic they are.
