Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Idris Elba is...

Trance(Malayalam) - Movie

The name Trance is so apt for the movie and it gels very well with the subject matter at hand, the truth behind miracle workers. It is also very interesting to note that the movie stays away from any controversy by not commenting on the religion but focuses only on the miracle worker part of it.

Trance starts slow and if you have read about the movie you will know it is going to take off any moment. And when it does, boy oh boy, Fahad is brilliant and impeccable. So are the music, camera work, editing and direction. Truly the miracle worker scenes will take you into the trance. By the time the intermission arrives you are grappling for space to breathe amidst the high octane trance scenes.

Second half suffers from the drug comedown symptoms. After giving such a high in first half the second half falters in proceedings that do not make sense completely. The bad guys are limited to being the card board villains that do not seem to have the brains that played the master game in first half. Two scenes in second half keep the enthusiasm alive though. One is when Fahad comes back and the climax fest. Rest all looks so convenient and uncomfortable. I mean convenient for writers and uncomfortable for audience.

And yeah Nazriya comes in second half and her fans would be disappointed with the role that is so short and not so well conceived. Gautham Menon is kickass as the villain. He hits the ball out of the park with his swag and smoothness. You now realize why all his heroes looked so suave and stylish only in his movies.

Movie's biggest highlight is it's music. It will surely give you the highs, take you into the trance and then push you into the depressing abyss if you are not careful enough. Take a bow Sushin Shyam and Jackson Vijayan.

Overall, this is a mix of some high octane well conceived scenes and some not so much.
