Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Idris Elba is

Dear Comrade - Review

Intent and execution is what makes something unique and interesting especially movies. Dear Comrade is 10 on 10 on intent. It has a very honest and relevant message at its heart. But the execution part, that is route it takes to convey that is patchy and rough.

First things first Dear Comrade is a movie of Rashmika. It is about her, her life, her character and how Vijay's role helps her in that. Rashmika is brilliant in her role. She carried the role so effortlessly but if only the character was developed well, she would have not come across as too much sobbing in second half. Vijay did good in a decent role and again his role also looks half baked. But in first half, the scenes between Rashmika and Vijay are so cute and beautiful. That is a total savior for the first half.

The director Bharat wanted to say so much in his debut movie but he falls short in achieving what he set out to achieve. But his approach comes across as honest though. The second half is where his skill takes the beating. He wanted to tell so much back story to reach the good message towards the end but that becomes overwhelming after a point.

Music by Justin Prabhakaran is the main plus of the movie. All the songs are shot and picturized well too.

Overall, Dear Comrade suffers from bad execution of especially second half but tries to convey a good message and always staying honest to the intent.
