Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Idris Elba is

Kirrak Party - Review

Telugu cinema has seen classic college stories in the last four decades in Siva for 80s, Prema Desam for 90s and Happy days for 2000s and Arjun Reddy for the current decade. Kirik Party(Original name in Kannada) was called one such classic for Kannada cinema. Too bad it did not become one for Telugu cinema.

There is a huge disconnect emotionally in the movie proceedings which is not good for any story. The first connect happens with the "Neechamaina" song and then only towards the climax. Rest of the time movie is a forced narration of already been there seen that kind of things narrated with total lack of conviction.

Music and Nikhil are the only things that try to save the movie. Samyuktha tries to save it with the same character she did in original but Simran who is reprising Rashmika's role in the original is not utilized well in an unconvincing role. Except Brahmaji, RJ Hemanth and Deepthi Sanaina everyone else is totally new to Telugu cinema. That can be a bit of a turn off too.

Overall, Kirrak Party is a Happy Days and Premam wannabe and unfortunately remains one, just a wannabe.
