Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Idris Elba is

Paisa Vasool - Review

Puri delivered a career changing hit to NTR but now it feels like the credit should go to Vakkantham Vamsi. Puri seems to be still stuck in Pokiri hangover. Paisa Vasool is unapologetically Pokiri minus any emotion. You just stare at the screen for some 150 mins mechanically knowing every scene and every twist before it unfolds. It is very hard to believe that this is the same Puri that gave us great and novel stories like Itlu Sravani, Idiot, etc.

Puri did not seem to have done any work on the story required when working with one of the top stars of Telugu Cinema. The only care he took is about styling Balayya and his fights. Balayya looked super cool in fights with his arrogant attitude. After Balayya started working typical commercial cinema, he never tried to reinvent himself as an actor. He was the same Balakrishna when he played Rowdy Inspector or even when he played Satakarni. Once in a while in movies like Aditya 369 he subdued the Balakrishna in him but never went for a full makeover. Paisa Vasool is that full makeover. If only he had good, I mean real good one-liners like Pokiri he would have nailed the role. Still, you will be thrilled looking at new Balayya in this movie and that is the only saving grace. Shriya is wasted. The new girl Muskan got a lengthier role but another weakly written role. Paisa Vasool, Padha mari and Ek peg la songs are good while NTR's remix song O pilla looked so half baked.

Overall, Balayya is trendy and super cool in the fights but rest of the movie is like watching re-telecast of Pokiri in TV for the nth time.
