Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Idris Elba is

ARJUN REDDY - Review

Note: Adults please use discretion. There is not much major adult stuff in this one that we do not see in a Hollywood romcoms. Profanity is well-placed and in-tune with the mood. But a strict no for kids.

For never was a story of more woe than that of Juliet and her Romeo and in this case Arjun and his Preethi. The first tragedy love story that comes to the mind for every Indian cinemagoer is Devadas. Arjun Reddy is a contemporary tribute to that great story. The major addition to the story is that the pair are both medicos and that adds up so much character to the movie.

The movie's narration style is pretty good even with multiple layers of flashbacks. First half entails the college episodes, the love story and the conflict point. The college episodes are one of the best in Telugu cinema. The love story is too simple but intimate. The movie builds Arjun's character very well as a self-destructive person while showing his passion for being a doctor.

Post interval the movie slows down a bit too much, may be to assert that Arjun is a lost cause. And the story adds some side threads to showcase the further downfall of Arjun. But that makes audience become a bit restless in their chairs. The movie picks up the pace in the last 20 minutes towards the climax.

But ARJUN REDDY is not a movie. It is like life. There are moments with your friends, intimacy and romance with your partner, pain, light moments, suffering, light moments again, suffering again and then a solution to the problem. Just like life, it even halts down for a moment. The frustration in a love failure is clearly conveyed in the movie and that is the main plus of the movie.

So make up your mind to sit back and experience the long life, love and suffering of Arjun Reddy, it is worth it.
