Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Idris Elba is...

Raarandoi Veduka Choodhaam - Review

Kalyan Krishna's first Soggade Chinni naayana was a very different movie. Everything was just on the border between good and bad but somehow the overall movie managed to be on the good side and did some wonders at the box office. With Raarandoi, Kalyan Krishna falters in the beginning itself to handle the marriage scenes. 30 minutes into the movie when you think it is going downhill, the song Raarandoi happens and magically from there the movie picks up.

Main plus of the movie is writing. The writing helps the actors and that in turns make the emotions work. Chay and Rakul are a revelation. They both excel in their roles. Rakul got a very good role and she totally lives it. While Chay's role is  a simple one, he steals the scene in the break up scene. He surely has grown as an actor with this movie. The two other actors who got good roles in this are Sampath and Kausalya. They both did pretty good too. Comedy by Vennela Kishore is alright. Rest of the cast do their jobs very well. Jagapathi Babu is in a role with not much scope for acting. It was a pleasant feeling to see Annapurna in the grand mother role. All in all, the actors looked very beautiful and all the scenes very well lit and colorful.

Music is strictly okay. Except for Raarandoi song, nothing else stays with you. But the background music towards the climax was pretty good, almost reminding us of Ninne Pelladutha climax scenes. Movie has very rich visuals except for the drone shots which were very sub par compared to Keshava and Shathamanam Bhavathi. Kalyan Krishna's writing and direction has some rough edges but more perfect rounded ones than rough ones and that works in this movie's favor.

Overall, discounting the first 30 minutes, the remainder of the movie is a very nice love story mixed with family drama.
