Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Fantastic Beasts and where to find them - Review

First things first....casting. That is what is mainly wrong with this one. Most of the actors looked out of place except Collin Farrell. He was a total misfit. He looked exactly like Collin Farrell and that's a major letdown. That too with the end twist you are left wondering why not full role?

I love Harry Potter world but this is not the same world though. There are some references to Dumbledore and Hogwarts here and there but that is it. This movie is more about the Fantastic Beasts like the title suggests and they try to weave a story around it which is a bit obvious.

There is no denying that this wizarding world is a make believe kind and not a real one. But all the Harry Potter movies and books worked big time because they were so real. While this is far from real and everyone's characters looked so uni-dimensional.

But the good news is that there are 3 or 4 more movies to this series and this was just a beginning. So let's hope this will grow on us slowly. But until then watch this movie only if you are already signed up to watch the whole series.
