Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Idris Elba is

Katamarayudu - review

Before I start this review, I need to confess that I had very low expectations on this movie and was expecting almost another Sardaar. Most of that is because I watched the original Veeram movie and to say the least, it was a very bad commercial potboiler.

Dolly who made a good looking remake out of Oh My God is back in his top gear here. His shot making, his direction, his camera angles and song picturizations have always been right on spot be it Koncham Ishtam Koncham Kashtam or Gopala Gopala or now Katamarayudu. Now coming to Pawan Kalyan, he looked dashing and perfect in the village getup, did well in comedy scenes, hero elevation scenes and especially fights. Talking about the fights, these will be the talk of the town now. And I think the credit should go to the director, cameraman, stunt choreographer and Pawan Kalyan. Wish background score was better. The fights in this movie seriously missed a music director like Thaman. The biggest drawback of the movie is music, None of the songs are worth remembering but the songs in the first half are at least alright. Background score actually waters down the impact the fights could have created. Shruthy looked pretty good outside songs and looked okay in songs. The brothers Ajay, Siva Balaji, Kamal and Chaitanya did very well and their scenes with Pawan and Ali worked out well. Scenes of hero elevation and slo-mo shots are plenty and work well too.

Overall, the director scores well in making this remake a very good watch unlike the original but the pacing in few scenes should have been faster and music should be redone, if possible. Fights are a huge huge plus.
