Suicide Squad 2 - Movie Review

Streaming: HBOMAX Suicide Squad 1 was one of the finest DC movies(Minus Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy) to come out from their camp. Do not go by the reviews. It was so well received that Harley Quinn had her own movie. Now cut to Suicide Squad 2 with the famous James Gunn from Marvel camp at the helm, it barely meets the expectations.  Marvel made it seem so easy to write a super hero movie in super entertaining fashion with movies like Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. But DC thought all they needed was the guy who directed Guardians to sell Suicide Squad. Oh my oh my how they were wrong. In one phrase, Suicide Squad is a gross mess that shines few times and far in between. Suicide Squad is no Guardians, not even close. The screenplay is messy. The visuals are gross but it aint Kill Bill. Kill Bill romanticizes with violence but Suicide Squad tries to romanticize with gross elements. To say the least, it doesn't work in favor of the movie. Idris Elba is

Doctor Strange - Review

So what if the two most self-centered egoistic roles in Hollywood, Sherlock Holmes and Iron Man  are taken by Robert Downey Jr, Marvel dug up another one to cast Benedict Cumberbatch who is no less match to RDJ to play such roles. Marvel has always been known for not taking their super heroes seriously, in a good way I mean, unlike DC comics world where they do take them pretty seriously. So casting Benedict Cumberbatch comes in very handy because he is witty, humorous and a convincing actor. While the subject is very outlandish and "Strange"(pun intended).

The movie fails miserably in story telling mostly due to the countless Super heroes movies that preceded this. The makers did not even seem invested in the story telling as much as they were in the visuals. And I think that pays off well for them. The visual extravaganza in this movie is a mix of Christopher Nolan's worlds and Darren Aronofsky's worlds and even better visually. That saves the movie totally. Any 3D enthusiasts can watch it in 3D and it would be a thrilling experience. I do not usually endorse 3D cinema but this one, if any, is worth of 3D effects,

Overall a visually satisfying movie with an average story telling and a great actor except when he is conjuring the sling ring for teleportation. He looked totally not in his comfort zone there.
